I typically share a lot of blogs that are jam packed full of FAQs/information for potential or existing clients (which I of course think are great). For example, I have featured blogs like “how to choose a newborn photographer” in Iowa City. Today, I wanted to share a simple photo heavy blog that features a recent in-home lifestyle newborn session in Iowa City, Iowa. Some clients like to see a full gallery (in fact I recommend that when you are choosing a newborn photographer). A full gallery really paints the whole picture of what your session will be like with that photographer vs “a highlight reel” when you look at someone’s instagram feed or even website.

I love to include photos that are you and your family in a more natural way. Throughout the session I give space and time to let these types of moments (and therefore images) unfold. The key to having more natural/”candid” photos is to be more vulnerable (not in a bad way)-but just letting yourself be yourself during your session. My job is to do my best to make everyone feel comfortable and create the space for that to happen 🙂

Naturally, I take sibling photos (above), and those are initial personal favorites as a mother (when I print pictures or put them as phone wallpapers). Honestly though, I reaaallllly love capturing the pictures of the baby and mom.

Each session will include “environmental photos” which would be of your nursery or your home, as well as the beautiful details (i.e. tiny toes, facial features etc).
